If you have a question not answered here or in the FAQ please feel free to email me and I will be happy to help.
Ashley Adler Studio is a one-person studio located in the Boston area. I make all my jewelry from scratch, using high quality raw materials like sterling sheet, wire, and gemstones. Everything in my shop is designed and made by me with my own two hands. Because each piece is made by hand and not mass-produced or machine-made, no two pieces will be exactly alike. Small variations may occur and should not be considered flaws, but rather part of the charm of handmade work.
When you buy from Ashley Adler Studio you are getting something truly original and handcrafted while supporting one girl’s quest for alchemical happiness.
I accept payment through PayPal and Etsy's Direct Checkout. Payment is due at time of purchase; delay in payment may result in cancellation of your order. Items will not be shipped until full payment is received.
Buyers in Massachusetts will be charged the required 6.25% sales tax.
Most made to order items ship within two weeks, but some items ship sooner. "Ready to ship" items ship within 3 business days of payment. If you order multiple items with different processing times, the longer time will apply. "Custom" orders will ship as agreed upon in our contract.
Your item may be shipped in a reused cardboard box and/or with reused packing material. The boxes and packing material are in excellent condition. New boxes and packing can be used on request. Thank you for helping me reduce our burden on the environment.
Please note that while I accept responsibilty for shipping in a timely manner getting your order to you safely, I cannot control the postal service and am not responsible for delivery delays. If you require your order guaranteed by a certain date, please contact me to discuss shipping options.
Standard domestic shipping is USPS First Class Mail (delivery in 3-5 days to most of the US, but it can take longer.) All domestic shipments include USPS Delivery Confirmation, tracking, and insurance.
The buyer is responsible for all charges incurred, such as customs duties, taxes, or fees. These vary by country and the amount of your purchase; I cannot predict if you will be charged or how much it will be. Fees can sometimes be lower if the total value of your order is under a certain amount; the buyer is responsible for knowing the limits in his or her country. Items will be represented accurately on customs forms. I cannot ship jewelry to countries where it is prohibited; if you order from such a country, your order will be regretfully cancelled and you will be issued a full refund.
For items under $400, standard shipping is United States Postal Service First Class Package International Service. For items over $400, standard shipping is Priority Mail International. All international shipments include insurance. Tracking and delivery confirmation are also included when available. Faster shipping options are available (though generally very expensive), please contact me for details.
Please note that the USPS requires international orders totaling more than $400 to be shipped either Global Express Guaranteed service, Express Mail International service, or Priority Mail International service (other than Flat Rate Envelopes or Small Flat Rate Priced Boxes). If you are interested in an international order totaling more than $400, consider splitting your order to save on shipping using First Class Mail International Package Service. I am happy to help you figure out the most economical shipping method.
Returns, Refunds, & Exchanges
If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing. I am always happy to assist you!
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 14 days of delivery to arrange a refund or exchange. Items must be returned in original and undamaged condition and mailed in sturdy packaging; the returned packages must be insured. Even when receiving a full refund, the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. If you would like, I can provide a prepaid return label; the cost of the label will be deducted from your refund or exchange.
Custom items and earrings may be returned or exchanged, less 30% of the purchase price. Items are considered custom if the buyer requested an item not already listed, a design alteration, or personalization such as stamped text.
In case of loss or damage in transit, items are shipped with insurance, tracking, and delivery confirmation when available. If your order arrived damaged, please save the packaging and contact me right away.
If, at any point, you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me.
Damage During Shipping
In case of loss or damage in transit, all orders are shipped with insurance, tracking, and delivery confirmation where available.
If your order arrived damaged, I will work with you to submit an insurance claim and make sure that you receive your order or a replacement.
Claims for damaged or missing items can be filed immediately. Claims must be filed with with the insurer no later than 90 days from the shipment date. You must retain the damaged item(s), packaging, and all contents until the claim is resolved.
Packaging & Gifts
All items are packaged in hand-stamped, 100% recycled (77% post-consumer, 23% pre-consumer) kraft-colored gift boxes ready for gift giving. Earring cards are 100% post-consumer recycled fiber and acid-free.
If you are giving a gift and having your order sent directly to the recipient, please let me know so I can omit the purchase information from the included receipt. Hand-stamped gift tags are available by request.
Rings & Resizing
I understand that it can be difficult to determine your correct ring size. As a reassurance to my customers, I am happy to offer a generous resizing policy. Within 60 days of purchase, I will correct a ring size one time for the cost of shipping. If subsequent resizing is required, a fee will be charged.
Please contact me to arrange for a resizing. As with an exchange, items should be mailed in sturdy packaging and insured.
Your ring size may fluctuate depending on time of day, weather, activity, and diet. It is best to have your ring sized measured by a professional, but if this isn't possible, adjustable ring sizers can be purchased here.
Please avoid exposure to lotions, cleaners, other chemicals, or abrasive substances. Do not wear while sleeping, swimming, or using power tools. Put on your jewelry after makeup, lotions, etc. to minimize contact. Humidity accelerates tarnish, so it is best to avoid storing jewelry in humid environments such as a bathroom.
Most jewelry is best cleaned with a polishing cloth made specifically for this purpose or with mild soap and water, then dried with a soft cloth. Although Argentium is tarnish-resistant, it will eventually tarnish. For best tarnish resistance and extra protection from everyday pollutants, fingermarks, and watermarks use Goddard’s Silver Cloths, and store in an acid-free container with an anti-tarnish strip. Store your jewelry items separately from each other to avoid scratching.
Finishes & Refinishing
Finishes may change with wear. Rings especially may be scratched by harder objects handled by the wearer. Oxidized and Signature finishes may wear off over time. All metal will eventually react with the environment and tarnish. Humidity, salt, sulphur, and other chemicals can accelerate the rate at which your jewelry tarnishes.
I am happy to refinish your jewelry at any time for the cost of shipping. Please contact me to arrange for refinishing. As with an exchange, items should be mailed in sturdy packaging and insured.
My copper, brass, and base metal jewelry is sealed with a flexible, food-safe sealant to prevent tarnish or the jewelry and discoloration on your skin. Clean with mild soap and water; wipe with a soft cloth. To preserve the sealant, do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners. Please note that no sealant is permanent, although the sealant may be reapplied.
Some of my work incorporates hand-dyed silk ribbons from a small, independent US company. These quality serged ribbons can be hand rinsed in cold water and hung to dry in a natural crinkle; iron for a smoother look. As silk is a natural material, some fading will occur over time. Silk is
particularly sensitive to sun; please store away from light to preserve color and increase the lifespan of your silk ribbons.
This applies to requests for custom items, not to existing listings that have customizable options. If you are interested in working with me on a custom item, please contact me so we can see what you're looking for. After our basic discussion of the design, I require a non-refundable design deposit of 30% of the estimated price to continue working on the design.
After I receive the design deposit, I will work with you to incorporate your feedback and make sure that the design is what you envisioned. Once we finalize the design, I will send you a proposal with the specifications of the design and a finalized price. If you do not wish to continue working with me on the proposed project, the design fee can not be refunded or exchanged for design work on a different item. As the precious metals market is volatile and the cost of materials may change, the price quoted to you is available for a limited time. If you do not approve the contract in the amount of time specified, I can provide a new quote.
Gold: 1 business day
Silver: 3 business days
Copper/Brass/Base Metals: 7 business days
Once the design and final price is approved by you, I require payment in full before crafting your custom order. Custom orders can be returned or exchanged by contacting me within 7 days of delivery; the amount refunded or available for exchange towards a different item will be 70% of the final purchase price.
Payment of the design fee and/or purchase of the final item does not transfer rights to the buyer; the design remains my property and I may choose to make more of the item (or similar items) for sale to others. I reserve the right to use my images of the design, work in progress, and/or finished work for promotional, advertising, or sales purposes.
